In my considered opinion, those Teabag posters portraying

by Ziks511 / January 28, 2010 10:32 AM PST

Obama as The Joker from Dark Knight are using one -er word in place of another -er word. And if you listen to Republican criticism of Obama, they're falling all over themselves to find synonyms like "cocky" and "arrogant" for uppity. We're a long way from being post-racial, despite Chris Matthews' suggestion in his deeply embarrassing discussion of the State of the Union address, which only served to prove how much we aren't post-racial. By the way, how many of you saw Chris Matthews' post SoU address?

I'd be tempted to say "I didn't think so" but I've already lectured somebody here for that little bit of bad manners, so let's leave it unsaid.

That Joker image...
by J. Vega / January 28, 2010 2:10 PM PST

That Joker image was done by Firas Alkhateeb, a 20-year-old senior history major at the University of Illinois. That poster was before the "teabagger" movement. Alkhateeb didn't like the appointment of Emanuel, he called him "A Zionist, he takes a hard line stance against the Palestinian cause, and shows a clear anti-Muslim racism. Besides that, he is the embodiment of 'political partisanship' that Obama was supposedly going to change!"

Then why should you add to the coverage?
by Angeline Booher / January 29, 2010 2:28 AM PST

Providing publicity for such antics does nothing but spread it.

Ignoring them is a public service.

What did I do to you

In reply to: hello?

..... to deserve being shouted at like I was a three year old?

Because you wanted me to delete the post rather than making a public point to the poster?

Nothing at all

other than the fact that you have been making snide remarks to me for quite a while. Mark Flax warned Rob about making these kinds of remarks and here he is doing it again. And you seem to think it should be ignored. The mods need to decide what is acceptable and carry threw with it.

they fired Jimmy the Greek for that one

So why does Chris Matthews still have his job?

I thought about it
by James Denison / January 29, 2010 3:35 AM PST

...and I think you are straining yourself on this too much. If anything I'd interpret it as trying to NOT give the impression you think they are. There's no racial correlation between any "er" word and the Joker, none whatsoever. Surely anyone can be "cocky" or "arrogant", not just whites? I think you are trying to pull a Chris Matthews of your own here with this thread.
