In market for Flat Screen TV

Jul 22, 2005 12:08AM PDT

Hello,

I am in the market for a RELIABLE flat screen TV. I have already spent over $4,000 purchasing and attempting to repair a piece of trash Gateway Plasma TV (may they rot!) I do not want to make this purchase again for at least 10 years.

I have not made up my mind as to the type of TV (Plasma, LCD, Rear Projection) that I would like to purchase but would like to go with the one that is low maintenance and has the best technology/features.

I have the following requirements:
RELIABLE

42 or 43 inches (Must cover same area of current failed Gateway TV)

Capable of working with current Cable Connection, Laptop Computer, DVD Player, and my brand new Canon Elura 90 camcorder.

Wall Mount

Extended Service Warranty

I also need assistance as to which are the best features. I need a TV that will not be obsolete in the next few years. Should I insist on HDTV integrated or is EDTV just as comparable? Which i/o ports should I insist upon? What is the best resolution? What features should the TV have in order to work with upcoming advancements in technology? etc.

I would appreciate anyone's assistance with this purchase. I am determined not to make the same mistake a second time.

Thank you for your assistance!
