Answer
Hmm.

I had my thoughts ordered in my mind about 'hovering the mouse' over the email to see if it would select, but when I tried that with my Thunderbird email software, that didn't happen. I had to {single} click to select.

That said, it has never bothered me because for any emails I want to read I just single click and it Previews in the Preview Pane. If I wanted to read it in it's own window I then double clicked.

It looks like this is the normal way, so may I ask why single click is "not good"?

If you are concerned about "Previewing" when attempting to delete unwanted emails that might be spammed or otherwise suspicious, you can always turn off the "Preview Pane".

Live mail single click
Jan 15, 2012 12:32AM PST

When I single click an email the entire email is displayed along with any links that may be attached. I'm not sure what a preview pane is. I searched "preview pane" and did not get any results.
The main reason I want to single click to select is to delete the email without opening it.

My research shows this on the second hit.
