Doesn't he know I had to reset my VCR to record "24" for an extra hour just in case he goes long?
Will it be worth the wait, or will it be the formal announcement that the deck chairs are being rearranged?
I opt for the latter.

Sorry, o techno-challeneged one, I merely bracketed the recordings on my DVR.... and then set the other 2 channels the same way. Didn't want to miss Grey's Anatomy, CSI-Miami, OR 24.
I suppose I could wait for the re-runs. LOL

Bush's proposals re: illegals were more in line with what the Democrats have been calling for than with the "round 'em up and throw 'em out" calls from the Right.

Well, I'd like to weigh in here. I'm no Democrat. I am a Conservative Republican, who has been out of Law Enforcement for 20 years. I was in for 14 years.
Catch and Release was never a good idea, and never worked. The really BAD apples wouldn't appear in court. I will be interested to see where they get put pending trial.
As to the proposals for illegal aliens to be allowed to achieve 'legal status' through a process... it's what America was built on! (Just please, let English be a requirement -- something that wouldn't have been needed until the last few years).
I liked the President's proposals. I even liked the use of the National Guard on the border with Mexico.
I think the use of a National ID card would have to be expanded to ALL Americans, to be valid, and I bet the Liberal Left won't take that sitting down.

The INS has been letting them go or taking bribes
And, they've been letting thousands go, anyway, because of lack of space.
(Just please, let English be a requirement -- something that wouldn't have been needed until the last few years).
I think they need to be good people, people who haven't committed any crimes, and who don't have a history of expressing anti-american sentiments.

In general, I think the President is MEANING that the immigrants who will be allowed a process to become legal citizens, would be the good, honest, hard-working immigrants of our glorious past.
I don't agree that the INS was taking bribes, how much could an illegal afford? I think it was just bad policy to "let em go" because we had no place to hold them until trial.
....and I wonder why no one has commented on ID cards for all citizens... I expected a word or 2 !!

I have NEVER called for "round 'em up and throw them out". What I do oppose is giving wholesale amnesty, which is really closer to the Left's "side".

most times the local news channels will cut in with 'news breaking' stories just as my soap operas are on. Presidential speeches normally come in the evenings in order to get the most coverage from viewers.
Tonight's speech....doesn't it coincide with Oprah's Legends show that's been advertised for weeks now? Wonder if he had to get her permission to interrupt it and if it will air in its entirety after the speech? lol

Legends has been rescheduled for NEXT Monday.....no cancelation of HER shows. LOL That's one lady he sure didn't want to tick off. She could buy him ten times over or more. LOL
