Importing Outlook email account settings?

Aug 12, 2005 10:47AM PDT

How can I import the email account settings from a backup on an external drive?
I used the files & settings transfer wizard to backup all the files on my pc before formatting the drive and reinstalling windows xp.
After an initial problem viewing my old outlook.pst file caused by some mcafree drivers which I have now corrected so that I am able to view all of
my old contacts and emails etc, but I can't work out how to import the email account settings. There were around 6 pop3 accounts setup, and I really don't
want to hunt around for all the various passwords, pop3 settings etc.
I have located the outlook.srs file within the backup file and tried importing that but that didn't work and am now stumped as to how I can do this?

I have never used that method of backup,

but I would think that you would have to use the Files & Settings Transfer Wizard to "Restore" the said file first.

See if you have that option in the wizard.

Hi,

I`m facing the same problem.
When installing my new ipaq the program asked me if it could upgrade outlook 2000 to outlook 2003.
I stupidly agreed. As a result i got a completely empty outlook 2003. No mails, no contacts, no accounts, ... all gone.
Pretty annoying for a so called update.
I managed to get my contacts and mails back in place.
However I cant restore my account settings (also several servers, usernames and passwords) nor the way I configured my mail. (automatic signature, background, and so on).
Is there a solution to this?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I learned this lesson years ago and backup my Outlook stuff (and other stuff.)

What backup system are you using?
