Importing Files into iTunes

Mar 10, 2010 6:50AM PST

I have wav, wma and mp3 files on my system. Is there a way to only import the mp3 files since these are the converted wav and wma files? Looking to reduce the import time and any conversion(of the wav and wma files) done by iTunes. This is a first time import or adding my music folder into iTunes.
TIA

so that iTunes does not import the wav or wma files, I don't think you can do what you are asking.

Should be a fairly simple matter to create a new folder, move the MP3 files into it and then tell iTunes to import from that folder.

As a matter of interest, why not get iTunes to convert the wav and wma files?

Seperating Files

The mp3's are the converted wma and wav files. I could do a find and move all of the non mp3 files to a new folder then add the music folder to itunes, but I'm trying to keep each album of wavs and wmas together for housekeeping.

(NT) How about find and copy in stead of find and move?

I'll want to move the non mp3 files out of my music folder so iTunes doesn't load those into its library when I add the folder.

Just do a find on the .mp3 files like you mentioned and then just drag the files from the search results window to iTunes so you don't have to move the originals.
