Importing contacts to Outlook 2010

I am trying to transfer my contacts from Windows live Mail to Microsoft outlook 2010. I found the directions on how to do this going through Yahoo. I go through and export my contacts from Windows live Mail as comma separated. When I go into Microsoft outlook 2010 and try to import them I go to open, import, import from other program, and then selectcomma separated and tell it to import to the contact folder. Now is where the problem is. I have 85 contacts I am trying to import and 85 things will show up in the contact list, but there are no names or information in what shows up. There is just a little square at the beginning of each line. If you double-click on it there is absolutely no information inside. I hope you can follow what I am having trouble with here. Hopefully somebody on here has seen this happen before. Thank you very much in advance for any information you may be able to offer me.

I follow the directions exactly as they are described above {I have done it many times and I have had a few friends try it} and we always get the same result. I have 85 contacts in Windows live Mail and when I do the import into Outlook 2010 it shows 85 items, but all 85 have no information in them. When I do the export out of Windows live Mail I make sure that the name and the email address are both selected for the export. If I double click on the file that is exported it opens up in Microsoft Excel and shows that the name and the email address are both there. They just will not show up in Microsoft outlook after I do the import. I tried to explain the as well as I could, I hope you can follow that. One time when I did the export out of Windows live Mail I tried selecting one of the other fields as a test and that actually showed up in Microsoft outlook after the import. I tried unselecting everything in the export file and then re-selecting what I wanted to export hoping that would work and it still doesn't. Now does anybody have any other ideas?

Try the CSV or Thunderbird methods.

I find that it's always something. So look for a CSV export since you can open the CSV with notepad to see if the export step worked.

Also, Thunderbird has many articles on this transfer so while it's not obvious why we use Tbird the reason is get it to some intermediary app then export it again to the next app.

Using Thunderbird was the key

I installed Thunderbird email on my computer imported the addresses into it and then exported them out of Thunderbird and imported them into Microsoft outlook 2010 and the addresses finally showed up. Thank you very much. This sure was a head scratcher for me.

Doing a 2 step conversion is the key on many of these.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
