Importing Address Book

Mar 6, 2004 1:12PM PST

Could someone run me through the procedure to copy my Outlook Express Address Book on my old computer to a floppy, then transfer these addresses to Outlook Express running on my newly built computer, please?

The procedure in OE6 is a matter of clicking File/Import/Other Address Book/highlight Comma Separated Values/then point to the saved Address Book. This assumes you first exported it in this format to some saved location.

Please reread his post. He isn't asking to export import within same computr. He wants to make a floppy of address book (wab) in old computer and install it in the new computr.

The export feature allows you to save to any location>> A: drive, file, network. Since the location was on another computer, this method is valid.

OK Now. Thank you both!

I managed to work it out eventually, and I was indeed making a floppy of WAB from one pc to load onto the latest machine, which I have just built. I must say that some Windows commands are not very intuitive!

FYI Export/Import of "IE Favorites" is similiar...

seafox13,

Exporting your favorites to a floppy is done the same way from Internet Explorer 6.

File|Import/Export| and follow the prompts.

Happy Computing!

Glenn,

For those who have only copied the file or folder instead of using the export/import tool the files can be copied back top the proper directory and they will work just as well.

In the case of the favorites the folder can be copied to the following directory:
C:\Documents and Settings\User\Favorites

Thanks David! I suppose it's a matter of personal preference. I generally make backups to a floppy of my "Favorites" and "Address Book" from time to time in case of a catrastophic event.

It's good to hear from you.
