Images Within Emails

Mar 14, 2009 6:08AM PDT

I am trying to figure out how to put images (JPEG) into an email, but not as an attachment. I want the image directly in the body of the email. How do I accomplish this?

Depending which email software you use

you need to "Insert" the image.

For instance in my Thunderbird email software, the option is in the "Insert" menu, then Image.

The email software I am using is Microsoft Outlook Web Access. There is no option for using "Insert". Is there another way with this email software?

I may be wrong,
Mar 14, 2009 7:57AM PDT

but as I understand it, Outlook uses special HTML tags to include a picture in the email body. In Outlook Web Access you cannot include a picture because it won't allow you to insert pure MIME code which is necessary.

Its for security reasons.

But I would be happy to be proved incorrect.

I have just read that if you go to Options , and there will option to install S/MIME.

You will need to research that yourself.

Thanks for the info. I downloaded the S/MIME, but it looks like that is only useful for sending email with a digital ID. I could be wrong.

Re: adding picture to message

With me:
- new mail
- start typing the text
- from the menu: Insert
- from the ribbon: choose picture
- browse to the picture
- click "insert"
and there it is, right in the body of the mail.

That doesn't work with you?

That only works if you're using Outlook from the Microsoft Suite. When using the web access, there is no insert tab and you can't copy and paste an image.
