images not forwarding

by tricia0131 / September 21, 2008 11:08 AM PDT

When I forward an email that has a pic inserted (not as an attachment), it is not making it to the recipient. However, if I forward the email to one of my other email addresses on yahoo, then forward the email, the images appear in the email. Why will Outlook Express not forward images inserted in emails I have received.

Checked This??

You may need to change the settings. Open Outlook Express, then click on "Tools", then click on the "Send" tab. In the "Mail Sending Format" section, choose "HTML",, then click on the "HTML Settings" button, then place a CHECK mark in the "Send Pictures with messages".

The "Text Only" format doesn't pass along pictures in the body of the mail message unless you insert them as "attachments".

Hope this helps.

Thanks Grif, but yes, what you suggested is what my settings are set at. Any other suggestions?

Then A Question...
by Grif Thomas Forum moderator / September 21, 2008 12:35 PM PDT

How do you know the pictures aren't being forwarded? Do they show up in your "Sent Items" folder and do they look correct?

Most importantly, make sure the receiver is receiving in HTML format.. If they are using Plain text, then it's possible its an issue on their end. In addition, if the receiver is using an Exchange Server which has security blocks against such embedded objects or if the receiver's email settings block the embedded objects, the pictures simply won't appear.. As mentioned before, it's frequently better to include those pictures as "attachments" instead of simply forwarding the embedded pictures.. Just my opinion, but I generally delete "forwarded" mail simply because it's usually junk mail which has been passed around between multiple readers.. It's generally not important enough to read. When I have a message which is important enough to pass along, I find the extra time to create a new message and attach the pictures separately.

And for other possible fixes, see the link below:

Hope this helps.
