Question

iMac no turning ON while connected to Belkin surge protector

by tattisingh169 / January 14, 2016 6:38 AM PST

Hello there,
I have an iMac connected to a Belkin surge protector. After the electricity went out and returned, I cannot turn on the iMac. Here are the other observations:
1. If I connect iMac directly to mains, it works.
2. On the surge protector I have a few other things (Marshall guitar amp, Klipsch audio speakers, external HDD) connected that work, while the iMac does not!!
3. I have changed the inlets of these devices. All work while connected the Belkin, iMac does not.

What going on here?

Is it a surge protector? Or did urban myths confuse you into assuming a UPS is a surge protector?

hmm...pretty sure its a surge protector. It is certainly not a universal power supply. Does not have a supply of electricity if the mains go off.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
