usually, printers with ethernet capabilities use the HP socket type of connection.
I have an iMac with OS X about 3 years old and a HP Photosmart C309a.
We have a Cisco WRT320N router and the printer is connected by ethernet. I am able to print from my Linux laptop with no problems.
I installed the printer on the iMac, LPR option to the printer's fixed ip.
The iMac will print a test page from the utilities menu, show the supplies status web interface. What it will not do is print from any application. I tried Word, Exel and Sticky Notes. It pops an icon that says "100% complete and "busy" . When I connect the printer directly by USB everything prints OK and I can connect from my Macbook as a shared printer. Any ideas
