I'm unsure if that will change what I would do next.

It's most likely a mainboard failure. At least try the resets you read about on apples and change the battery (may not be simple or noted by Apple).

Up for a new screen
Apr 24, 2017 12:28AM PDT

My son decided to charge at the computer desk pushing my screen of the desk smashing it so now my question is if its the main board would I be better off buying a screen and a main board or a new imac

If the screen is cracked then I'd pull the HDD out to some USB case to get access to files you forgot to backup or to slip into a same model working iMac. The costs are going to mount as my guess is a mainboard. And now it appears the LCD has taken a beating.
