Thank you.

Mimicking definition, to imitate or copy in action, speech, etc., often playfully or derisively.....someone is feeling impish this morning

Don't you mean mocking?

Anyway after the mass shootings seemed like bad timing to release that film.

That's what I thought also...."the Elite"?

There are no longer any "Elite"...from this point forward THEY shall be referred to as the "Deplorables"?

Aug 11, 2019 11:51AM PDT

YOU believe THEY...never mind who THEY are, cancelled the movie BECAUSE OF THE ENDING.

The movie was NOT cancelled because of the storyline of the movie?....

One group of people hunting down another group of people is OK with you?

Just the ending, THAT is the reason for the cancellation?

- Collapse -
You really DO need straightening out
Aug 11, 2019 2:06PM PDT

YOU said this: "RE:Seems these hunters were MAGA types"

And I responded to THAT.

I don't believe it was cancelled because of the ending....I believe it was cancelled because somebody with a BRAIN realized that they can't complain about Trump's 'rhetoric' and blame HIM personally for El Paso and then deliberately bring out a movie that might be perceived to be INCITING more radical left crazies towards violence against conservatives/Trump supporters.

RE:And I responded to THAT.

And you responded

someone says

Seems these hunters were MAGA types"

and YOU respond with

Perhaps from the reported ENDING

MAGA types have a "reported ENDING"?

Movies have a reported ENDING....MAGA types probably will have a reported ENDING but it's highly unlikely that you would admit that....being a MAGA type

Sure sounds like you're talking about the cancellation of a movie.

FOCUS, TONI.....FOCUS.

too true
Aug 12, 2019 4:21PM PDT

I'm with you. And Victoria is too - we both bemoan "torture porn" type television series such as "Criminal Minds" and others that while well written, cast, performed, etc. focus so much on the dark side of human behaviour that it is too much to watch at times. While earlier police 'procedural' shows like "Law and Order", "NYPD Blue", and further back to "Hill Street Blues" and other good shows often depicted rather chilling crimes/criminals , at least they were leavened with humor and incisive character studies.

As you note, real life is quite horrific already - so often we opt for comedies/'dramedies'/documentaries (real life but usually science shows or nature such as the excellent BBC series' available on netflix.) I don't mind seeing animals devour each other - most times! ( sometimes it too is a bit much such as when Orcas "play" with their meals - just seems cruel).

You mention Criminal Minds.
Aug 12, 2019 5:07PM PDT

The first leader of the profiler group was played by Mandy Patinkin, one of our best actors. He quit after first or second season because he saw the scripts changing in just the way you said. I did, too. Soft core porn. Interesting, because actors aren't required to think. Just show up, hit their mark, say their lines. With his CV, he was being paid very well.

I enjoyed the Law and Order franchise, featuring excellent acting, writing and production values. Left when they went the same route.
Example: Criminal Intent had scripts about a wealthy miser e.g. being killed for his money; all his relatives were suspects. Then it was about a wealthy ditto being killed over kinky sex.
Example: SVU easily 'went the way of all flesh', so to speak. I remember one episode that, to my mind, involved implied child sex. The character and the actress were under age. Way under. Another crime show once paid a big fine over an orgy scene whose characters were under age, although the actors weren't. That depiction does violate the law. Why not SVU?

Orcas and other animals have "behaviors", as you know. Doesn't include attacks of conscience. Happy There's a reason for orca behavior, which I've forgotten.
Dolphins do the same with octopi. The reason is to break off the tentacles, which can and do 'grab' the dolphins' insides, fatally.

Finally, we close our sermon with a quote from Bro. Clemens. "Man is the only animal that blushes- or needs to."

Yep, that's a sign of...
Aug 12, 2019 6:30PM PDT

you know, insanity? :^)

My fave joke for _that_ is from a stand-up comic ( I think, not sure where it came from, actually). It goes : " You are not insane if you talk to yourself, only if you answer in a different voice... "

From your earlier post - as I recall, there was a film from the 90's called "Kids" which depicted teen sex and copious amounts of drug use that came under a _lot_ of scrutiny when released. I never saw it but remember all the fuss. And hip-hop and rap have been likewise accused of glorifying violence and misogyny - while some/most? rappers say they are "keeping it real" as if they are auteurs documenting life in "the hood" and perhaps want to emulate a sort of audio version of " cinema verite " . Shrug. I like old-school rock-n-roll, '90's "grunge", lots of sixties groups and punk, new wave, and some more recent stuff. But classical chills me out the most - plus Enya - who's music always lowers my pulse rate by at least 10 bpm! :^) { It's really not fair to be talented *and* beautiful - there should be a law or something! }

My two takeaways: The source of the demand, and the source of the guns.
My usual concerns. Others of you will have yours.

How much of this could be eliminated by a change in people's heart conditions? Can we get the governments working on that?

govt can, but...
Aug 12, 2019 2:22AM PDT

...politicians can't, because they must make you feel there's something wrong that must be corrected and only they can do it better than the person who is already in there. There's no such thing in a democracy where there's predominately a positive election theme. Who would get elected over an incumbent if they said everything was great and they'd do the same?

Almost all of your post is correct, in that it
Aug 12, 2019 5:19PM PDT

'matches real life'.

Except the subject line.
Man's government CANNOT change human hearts. There is one that can, and every Christian should show allegiance to it, because it's set out by the one they believe represents the Great Governor- or IS that governor. _Either way._

kingdom of heaven is a government
Aug 16, 2019 8:46AM PDT

Your belief of Christ reign on Earth would be a government. I never said government of men can be perfect, nor could it correct everything that may be wrong in man's heart. Not even God, due to granting us free will can do that. Government does have the promise that if they follow the things God has endorsed for earthly governments, he will help heal a nation.

Well, like the guy in El Paso
Aug 12, 2019 6:52PM PDT

who wanted to see if the city would buy *his* 'assault rifle' - no one *needs* one, but they are fun "toys" ( his description, not mine ).

When I was quite young my father gifted me with cap guns, later BB guns, taught me how and when to use weapons - this was normal for my age group. I've always liked knives too, and have even made a few as a hobby and practice in metallurgy. (Old metal-cutting files make excellent base stock!). A co-worker who was likewise keen on fabrication in metal once had a "project" to make his own miniature cannon - don't know if he ever finished it - but that was likewise a "toy" in function. Who needs a cannon?

See the difference in controllability between handgun and rifle.
Like the rifle on full or semi, good only for killing humans.
