I'm very uncertain between these 2 notebooks

Hi guys,

It's the first time for me here. I'm looking for a notebook for:

- Playing games
- Using Adobe softwares
- it hast to last at least 6-7 years

I have two choices:

Alienware r2, 6 months used, still in warranty: (Feb 2017). Almost new.

I7 6820HK till 4.1 ghz
16 gb RAM ddr4 2133 MHz
512 gb ssd + 1 tb HDD 7200 rpm
Display ips igzo 4k 15.6" 3840x 2160
GeForce Gtx 980m

I7 6700HQ 2.6 ghz till 3.5
Same Ram
HDD 1TB 6gb/s, 128 SSD
Display full HD 15,6 "
GeForce 1060 GTX 6B

2 years Asus warranty.

For what I'm looking for (games, Adobe and it has to last at least 5-6 years):

Which one is the best?

Thank you so much!!

Neither will make that number of years.

Right off the bat the batteries are 300 cycle affairs. That means that with daily use those can fail. Next we have issues with your use and care. If you live in some hot humid place it won't last. If you run it full tilt 24x7 it won't last.

Finally many HDDs don't make it past 5 years. I replace a lot of those.

No maker will assure it will last that long. Unless they are lying.

I've been using a i5 with 4GB RAM and a poor graphic card since 6 years ago and you're telling me that this kind of notebook don't last 5 years?

Come on man.

And above all, you didn't answer my question.

I'm not only telling

But writing that no maker will assure you it will last that long. The oldest laptop used daily here is from 2006 but it had to get new batteries and the HDD failed. We popped in a SSD and it boots and gets on the web in 33 seconds from cold.

But did it last 10 years? No. It had a few new parts and repairs along the way.

Now if you allow for repairs, then most can make it barring drops, water damage and so on.

be 3 in July. I purchased a 1 year extended warranty which expired in July. Dell called me an offered by an extra 3 year for 200/year (over 600 total). So they must think it's a higher risk.
