My nod is to the AMD Ryzen boards noted at https://www.reddit.com/r/PCMasterRace/wiki/builds if latest BIOS and any RAM settings fail to correct it.
Ok so Ive had my pc for about 3 years now. I was running some old tech for gaming (really just playing Overwatch on it) and it ran decently. I had a bit of lag but that was basically the extent of my problems. Over the last few months though, I have fully upgraded my computer (bar the case). All the interior is new. Here's what I am currently running:
OS: Windows 10
Graphics: ASUS GeForce GTX 1060
Power Supply: EVGA 850 GQ
SSD: SanDisk SSD Plus 240 GB
Mother Board: Asrock AB350 Pro4
Sound Card: Built in audio from motherboard
Memory: I want to say 16gb G-Skill Ripjaw DDR4 memory but I may be mistaken. I don't remember the specifics.
Processor: I think it was the Ryzen 5 1600 processor but again I'm not certain.
So anyways, with that in mind, I'll continue.
It is very odd because frequently when I play games on my PC or even just logging in in extreme cases, I will get this strange system wide freeze. Everything will be frozen, sound, my keyboard's light patterns, visuals, everything. The only way to free it up is to force restart the computer (i.e. pressing the power button). This only started happening after I upgraded (that is, everything except for power supply and SSD).
Today, I just upgraded my power supply and SSD (previously a fusion drive) to the specs above and when I tried again, my system still froze. I also removed my crappy old sound card and switched to the above specs. Through this, I could determine that the Power Supply, Sound Card, and SSD were not the problem.
Leaves the processor, memory, motherboard, and graphics card. Although the Graphics Card was the first thing I upgraded and it ran fine before I added the other stuff, so I would hesitate to say that was the problem.
I've tried everything I can think of guys so maybe one of you has some insight or has experienced the same thing. Please let me know if you have any ideas on how to fix this, it makes gaming (and really doing anything on that computer) a nightmare! Thanks guys!
IMPORTANT EDIT: My motherboard is an ASUS Prime B350 Plus, I got my brands confused for a second!
