Question

I'm curious about something....

Aug 5, 2018 3:33AM PDT

The USA and the world has tipped so far into the PC experience and how words matter. 'Back in the day' Italians, during the rash of deaths and destruction of WWII by their TRUE fascist leader Mussolini, fled to the USA in vast numbers seeking refugee status.....and 'we' were collectively known as "WOP"s. For those uninformed it was a government term for WithOut Papers.

Now we have about 11 MILLION 'undocumented' (the PREFERRED term to those PCers) who are actually ILLEGAL (came across the border without permission or overstayed a visa or sought asylum from all kinds of abuses including their HUSBANDS instead of gangs or wars). Would THEY be offended if they were referred to as WOPs since 'undocumented' actually IS interchangeable with WOP?

Discussion is locked

at least let it apply to the situation.

Papers, please?

UnDocumented Illegal Immigrant is more appropriate.

UDII...which could be shortened to UDI

The UDI is responsible for processing applications from foreign nationals who wish to visit or live in Norway, the running of asylum reception centres and expulsion cases.

"undocumented".....NO PAPERWORK......WOP (WithOut Papers)………."more appropriate"?????? Again with the PC crap trying to make something sound more appealing and palatable???? That's exactly how bleeding heart liberals have silver forked tongued their way into ruining our country. Not anymore......

so your WOP Without Paperwork acronym doesn't "apply"

RE:trying to make something sound more appealing and palatable????

I doubt an illegal immigrant would know what WOP is/was referring to, until YOU explained it to them.

GO FORTH AND SPREAD THE WORD!!!!! you silver tongued individual.

PS...WOP (With Out Papers) BUT they have all their documentation on their iphone?

Welcome to the 21st century.

a good many of these illegals DON'T HAVE 'documentation' because they come from countries that can't/won't provide it. And many others give false information/names in order to stop us from finding out they've already been deported before.

Documentation is a PAPER trail no matter WHAT YOU think and many avoid it if they think they can. WOP......

I'M Italian and never and still don't think of the term WOP as derogatory....especially since the TERM is CORRECT wording for an illegal here. ONLY bleeding heart liberals who make up the PC rules as they go along believe it is....just as, although BIOLOGICALLY there are ONLY TWO GENDERS, THEY have decided there needs to be somewhere around ONE HUNDRED TWENTY now.

I thought the "CORRECT wording is/was "Undocumented Illegal Immigrant".

Exactly WHY do you think the term should be "changed"?...They are "undocumented"...They are "illegal" and they are "immigrants".

You can't make an acronym that you can pronounce with those terms?

UDI doesn't work for you?

How bout I transpose the letters?

Does IUD work for you?

what is your REAL point other than trying to gloss it over?

I'm not trying to "gloss over" anything.

Go ahead, refer to undocumented illegal immigrants as WOPs. Fill your boot.

I'd like you to tell us WHY you feel it is necessary to refer to Undocumented Illegal Immigrants as WOPs.

WOP rolls off the tongue easier than Undocumented Illegal Immigrants?

WOP CHANT?

I'll be sitting on the sidelines in SE anxiously waiting for you to use the term WOP in a post, in many NEW threads. I'll be keeping a running tally of your use of the term.

Be advised though, unless people have read this thread they will have NO idea that when you use the term WOP that you are referring to Undocumented Illegal Immigrants.

IF they Google WOP they will see this.

But you missed the Toni point, earlier:
"I'M Italian and never and still don't think of the term WOP as derogatory ... ONLY bleeding heart liberals who make up the PC rules as they go along believe it is [derogatory]...." Therefore, it isn't, in her universe.
The Bible rule, which each of you has forbidden himself to read*, is so valuable in human interactions that it's considered golden. "All things ... that you want men to do to you, you must also do to them." Mt 7:12.
Our study Bible has three crossreferences to the related thought at 1Cor 10:24. ["Let each one keep seeking, not his own advantage, but that of the other person."] Those are 1Cor 10:32,33 and 13:4,5, and Philippians 2:4.

RE:1. Can't form a coherent sentence
Aug 7, 2018 5:00AM PDT

Said the person that doesn't use periods.

A period is a small dot-shaped punctuation mark that is used at the end of any sentence that is intended to make a statement. As with other punctuation marks that end sentences, the period should be placed directly behind the last letter of the last word of the sentence.

RE:Show me which one(s) YOU actually believe are SENTENCES

They WOULD BE sentences IF they had a PERIOD. You capitalized the first letter and left out the period. That's MY point.

Can't form a coherent sentence
Can't comprehend the question and is too embarrassed to admit it but feels the need to answer something...anything so he can see his name in print
Can't actually come up with a real answer to a real question
Feels compelled to deflect because they have NOTHING

it depends on the content - and the context - of the list. In a way you have to kind of forget that the bullet points are there and decide whether the list is part of one big sentence or whether each point is a separate sentence. For example:

(all one sentence - lower case):

In my spare time I like to:

cut down trees
eat my lunch
make posts in SE

(separate sentences - capital letters): AND PERIOD

Some characteristics of a lumberjack I know:

He's ok.
He sleeps all night and he works all day.
On Wednesdays he goes shopping and has buttered scones for tea.

RE: The noun you are actually looking for that WOULD have made them a sentence is the word 'YOU'.

BTW "you" is a PROnoun NOT a noun. Is it an Amurican "noun"?

Is there no dictionary on the web in America?

I'm not taking ANY advice on sentence composition from you. I will try and enlighten you though.

I had been trying to recall all of the terms we'd heard as kids and would repeat on the playground and such. I wonder if the forum filters would let some of these by but I'll give it a try and see what leaks through.

Another term for Italian was "****" which also fit Spaniards but mostly you'd hear the word "****" for these people. Of course Mexicans were often called "Wet backs" because so many crossed over through the Rio Grande River. Polish were "Pollocks", Germans were "Krauts", Chinese were "Chinks", and I was a Bohunk. Never, however, do I remember these words used in anger or for other than light humor. Many ethnic persons would refer to themselves with these words almost as a badge of honor. No one was fired or sent to sensitivity training for using such words. No riots ensued and no animals were harmed. Now we hear the term "PC" which means "politically correct" with "politically" being the operative word. To me, this is more reason to get politicians out of the business of social engineering and focus on our physical protection and maintaining a healthy business climate. Damaged egos and hurt feelings don't belong on their agenda, IMO.
