ILO 1 Gig mp3 player
Dec 28, 2005 2:46PM PST

I got the Ilo 1 Gb mp3 player for Christmas, and it worked fine...for a day or two. First of all, when I loaded songs into it, it said that I had a little over 200 songs in it. But as I was listening to it at work that day it turned out that there were only 62 songs on it. I know that some people have complained about that fact, but I think most people need to realize that songs on pre-recorded CDs are in WAV format, which are a LOT bigger than mp3 files. So you're not going to fit hundreds of songs on your 1GB portable device if the songs are in WAV format. But that's not my problem. My player actually had a display that showed it had over 200 songs on it when it really didn't.

And as if that wasn't bad enough, today when I tried to reload the player with a bunch of new songs, it told me that it couldn't load most of them because they weren't in a recognizable format. But all the songs were in mp3 format. AND, right now I'm looking at my player, which has a message on it that says "Searching Song Files..." and that message has been there for about an hour and a half now... and it won't go away. I even took the battery out for about a minute. Put a new battery in and the same thing happened. Anybody have any idea what's goin' on here?

RE:ILO 1 Gig mp3 player
Dec 30, 2005 3:58AM PST

i made the same mistake when i first put songs on it.the vest thing to do is go to my computer and look under removable devices and find ILO.If it says u have 200 songs on ur ilo but it only plays less than that, then delete ALL the songs from ur device.go to windows media player and have all ur songs put on there.i took all my burned cd's like that.after uve done ripped and have music in ur library,go back to my computer.go to my music, then find the albumn folder and go thru there.highlight all the songs and right click and click copy.go back to the ilo device screen and double click that.right click and paste and you should see that there are songs being put in the device.if u r ripping from a cd-r,u will have to go thru unknown album and click the on the folder that is most recent(u should see the songs u have just ripped)and thats the easiest way to do it.

ILO 256 player problems and RAVE's lack of customer support
Jan 4, 2006 9:10AM PST

Wal-Mart gets 5 stars for replacing the defective ILO 256 I purchased in May '05. After only 7 months of infrequent use, the headphone jack began shorting out. I got a promise to make things right from RAVE, but all they did was send me automated responses and one promise to send me an authorization number to return my prematurely defective unit. They did nothing. Use your own judgement, but buyer beware!

iLo works good for me
Dec 5, 2005 2:15AM PST

I recently bought an iLo 1gb from Walmart for $100. It seems to work well for me. I have only had it for a short time but I get good radio reception and good sound quality. I went with iLo because I heard good things about it but it wasn't too fancy so I wouldn't be worried if something happened when I took it to the gym.

Ilo 1 gig player
Dec 20, 2005 1:16AM PST

I love the 1 gig unit, I even bought Lexmarks (Sams Club $61, yes $61. The marts in area has 512M for $74, go figure) 1Gig SD card but the control button for play/reverse/forward/stop stinks. The first one I bought at WalMart reverse would not work. The second one the play button doesn't work more than 20% of the time. I'll go for the triple crown today and see if I can get one that works as advertised.

ilo 1 GB
Dec 30, 2005 3:48AM PST

ive heard of all these problems with the 256MB player but i have bought the ilo 1GB a week ago and so far it is the best mp3 player ive had.it holds 480 songs and is very easy to do.just copy and paste the songs from ur computer (window media) and its that simple.the only two minor problems:they give u 2 different instuctions on how to get songs on it.dont follow the cd instructions, follow the ones on paper they give you.also when u enter the main menu the reaction time from when u press enter or scroll down is aliitle slow.but i do recommend the 1 GB ilo player.

your ilo 1gb...
Jan 21, 2006 1:22PM PST

How long have you had it now? and can you give me honest pros and cons about it. I'm thinking about buying one off walmart.com and I'm having second thoughts. The only ones I can find on walmart.com is the 1GB ones, but everyone is talking about the smaller sized ones. It's alot of money to spend but I wanna know if I'm getting a good buy for my money.

ILO from Wal-Mart
Jan 4, 2006 9:21AM PST

I'd never buy another ILO. In fact I recently bought a couple of Sansa's my daughter and me. The ILO headphone jack started shorting out after only 7 months of infrequent use. The RAVE support team (RAVE owns ILO or GoVideo does...I'm not sure about that) told me they'd help me. Never did. Wal-Mart on the other hand responded to an email sent to their corporate HQ's, fwd'd my message to the local store. A manager called me and apologized for having a supplier like ILO create such headaches for me. They offered to replace the unit. I requested a refund to purchase a different brand. So far (though it's too early to tell) I think we'll like the Sansa's. We've already called tech support about a MWA issue. The Sandisk staff are knowledgeable.

ILO versus SanDisk
Jan 18, 2006 2:27AM PST

I received the 1 GB ILO for Christmas and the wife received the SanDisk 1GB. The 1 GB ILO was $100 at WalMart, the SanDisk was on special at Costco for $80 (regularly $100).

The SanDisk comes with playlist support, ILO does not.

I do not believe the SanDisk has a memory expansion slot, but I am not sure of this (I am less familiar with the SanDisk because it is my wife's). Ilo does have memory expansion.

I like the SanDisk footprint better, but that is not quantitative.

I returned one ILO because the stop button (used to scroll down as well as stop) failed in the first week (actually the second or third day). The new ILO I received appears to having nothing on the included CD (but I had already loaded from the CD of my original ILO). Second Ilo is working fine so far (about 3 weeks).

I have upgraded my headphones, but I did not consider the original to be real bad.

The wife has not had any problems with her SanDisk yet.

I believe the SanDisk is better than the Ilo and the CostCo SanDisk regular price is the same as the WalMart Ilo price. I would buy the SanDisk over the Ilo.

ILO vs SanDisk- No contest!!
Jan 22, 2006 9:44PM PST

So far our Sandisks (we liked them so much we bought three) are working out really well. We like the AAA rechargeable battery option. I don't want to carry a charge cord everywhere I go. We bought the ILO originally for the same reason. However, the real test of any product these days is customer support. Sandisk has bright people standing by. The guy I talked to was a smart... but he really knew what he was doing. The people at ILO couldn't care less, and I can back up my complaints. I told them that I was going to spread the word about their lack of help on a premature wear-out of a headphone jack, but they didn't seem the least bit concerned. Oh well. We'll cross our fingers on the Sandisks we bought. We got the 1MG, a 2MG and the 4MG. Our 20 year old has the 4, as you might imagine. Lots of capacity when you convert songs into WMA format. Good luck.

SanDisk wonderings
Feb 2, 2006 4:20AM PST

droll- I've been researching mp3 players and have really been interested in either the SanDisk 512MB or 1GB both with expandable memory, but have read (only) a couple not so good reviews about them (out of a ton of good ones). Did you purchase the expandable memory SanDisk? And if so, have you had any issues thus far? thank you...

Ilo much better
Mar 11, 2006 9:27PM PST

The sansa 250 which i had for 1 day was junk, never reconized by win xp, the case was junk never could get the player to go in it. so back to CC it went and was replaced with iLo 1GB player from walmart at a cheaper price I might ad, and has been expanded to 2gb with igb sd card......very happy with this player and highley recommend over junk sandisk players

ILO vs Sandisk
Mar 16, 2006 9:06AM PST

I was reluctant to buy a Sandisk because you HAVE to have XP to operate the music swapping utility (Windows Media Player). I love it. I bought one for my wife and daughter. Check my other post about Sandisk service vs. ILO. All the ILO people did was lie from the start of my problem to the point where Walmart took the item back with an apology--hardly their fault--and a full refund.

Yeah Walmart
Yeah Sandisk
Boo ILO

ILO 1GB Player
Mar 11, 2006 9:01PM PST

I bought the 1GB ilo player at walmart for $99.98, its also expandable with an sd card, has fm tuner and can record from fm tuner. It shows in winxp as another drive so you can just drag and drop your music files, come with carrying case and armstrap, uses one aaa battery which rates at 18hours, but i am sure thats just with normal uses. Also I got a real good deal form ebay on a new 1gb sd card, so now the player is a 2gb.

cheaper & 2 gb sd memory card works
May 3, 2006 9:18PM PDT

Yeah, the ilo 1 gb player is very cool. I bought it for $99.98 at walmart.com, but just recently I found that they even moved down their price to $89.72, which even makes it a better deal!! Also, I found that there is a 2gb (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820211029) sd memory card for real cheap ($40.85) that has worked flawlessly on the ilo 256. I'm not sure it it's the same for the ilo 1gb but hopefully it is. I haven't bought it yet because I'm still skeptical. If it does, Would have a 3gb ilo player Happy

ilo mp3 player
Apr 30, 2006 4:41AM PDT

I would not reccomend buying the ilo mp3 player..I got one for Christmas and since then had to replace it 3 times. The buttons on the sides keep breaking and I take good care of it. Wal-mart has been nice about it the first 3 times by replacing it, but they say now I have to report it to the manufacturer, which is what I'm trying to do now. Therefore, I would highly reccomend looking for a different brand.

Highly Recommend ILO
May 3, 2006 6:52AM PDT

I have had the ilo 1gb model for several months now and have had no problems even bought a 1gig memory card for it, this is absolutely the most awesome player, both in value and performance. I had previously bought a Sansa M250 which turned out to be a piece of cheap junk which was never reconized by winXP. I returned it after one day. The ilo was reconized as soon as it was pugged in and I like the drag and drop capablity. You can't go wrong buying the player it rocks!!! and you will not be disappointed. I would advise you to not listen to all these horror stories being told in this forum and buy this player and start enjoying it as much as I have..

I have the 2GB ilo which just came out and i had it for less than a month. I babied it and only dropped it once on thick carpet. The headphone jack stopped working and i was lucky because it had a ninety day warranty and i was able to take it back to wally world. The next time it happens i am getting an ipod and never looking back.

Did Wal-Mart Give you a number to get ahold of iLO?
May 10, 2006 3:23AM PDT

I bought one in August and it is not even a year old yet and it suddenly will not turn on...new batteries do not solve the problem. It turns on briefly and flashes the iLO logo then turns off. I can't find anything about this product or a website or anything. I even went to Wal-Mart to look at the package to see if it gave an address or website all it says is manufactured for Wal-Mart and it gives the Wal-Mart headquarters address. I was really impressed with it until now. I ride the bus downtown everyday to work and now I have no music...that sucks!

DO NOT BUY iLO MP3 FROM WAL-MART!!!
May 18, 2006 3:14AM PDT

Wal-Mart has not been helpful to me at all. This is a product that nobody else sells because iLO manufactures this exclusively for Wal-Mart...I have been given phone numbers only to get the run-around from each number I call...they all say to call another number and since I am past the 90 day warranty (which is also the Wal-Mart cut-off for returns on electronics) Wal-Mart will not help me. I never dropped mine or did anything to it...it stayed in my briefcase in it's own little pocket, my kids never touched it...even my husband never touched it. I guess I am going to have to become a pain in the butt customer to get satisfaction out of Wal-Mart.
