This detection is for various scripts (typically combination of HTML, VBScript and ASP) written to provide remote access to the web server running them. They are intended for IIS servers.
Once running on the IIS web server, the hacker is able to gain remote access to the server by accessing the relevant URL. The following functionality (depending upon exactly which script components are present) is available to the hacker:
download/upload files
list directory contents
create or remote directories
run system commands via CMD.EXE (command is passed in via HTML form)
Because of the various script components that comprise this threat, the exact filenames and filesizes will obviously vary.
Detection of this threat has been available since the 4253 DATs in McAfee gateway products.
