After much research I need a pretty lightweight laptop for school. Which would you go with and why?

- Asus UL30A

- HP dm3-1020

- Toshiba Satellite T135

- Acer Timeline 3810tz

Aside from portability, what else do you need out of your laptop? Do they come with Vista, Windows 7, some other OS?

Does not mattter to me....

To be honest it does not matter to me because even though some laptops still have vista there's always the option of upgrading to it. I do not mind either if it is already preloaded with windows 7. As long as it is not MAC for the love of g-d do not recommend a MAC to be.

No worries of that happening...

Happy

You're going to be happy with any of those PCs, to be quite honest. The thing I'd say is to make a spreadsheet and map out the attributes of each.

Or, you could try out the PC Scout from Windows to get some more ideas: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/pc-scout/laptop-set-criteria.aspx?mode=landing.

After you're got a good list, go out and try to get your hands on the systems. I've got huge, dumb hands, so I always like to see what the keyboard feels like, etc.

tried 'em out in the store? It's always best to try before you buy. I'm certain that, once you've used them, a clear winner will rise above the others.
