In 1918 they used to say...

...."I opened the window and, in flew Enza."

Maybe we could update it today for corona to

"Who Hand me virus" (Wuhan Virus)

the most common memes' out there have "Made in China" on them.

I think it's very interesting both SARS and now Corona both started in Wuhan and right down the road from the Meat Market is the Wuhan Institute of Virology, and they've also procurred "biological materials" from US and Canadian professors using Chinese students. One Harvard professor has already been arrested, and investigations now in Canada too. It's possible the virology laboratory had this virus in it, and some worker there caught it, then visited the market before symptomatic and infected people there.

Nah. That's one of them conspiracies.

You're batty!

But seriously. 1918 is a fascinating story. Nothing since has come close; the last two coronas- SARS and this one- are much slower moving and less deadly.
Something else. The victims were predominately not the usual "infants, elderly or with preexisting conditions", as this time. They were the future. (About one Vietnam's worth of deaths each year from regular variants, they say- tragic but not Armageddon by any means.)

And, Armageddon will not be televised.

Good catch. I never saw that joke.

Signifies its wide spread. Only two or three places had no cases; all oceanic and before long distance flight.
Philip Morrison, who knew things, noted that news of it was not widespread, mainly because of self-censorship in the wartime press. 'But the letters of ordinary people were full of it.'
One postwar novel that featured it was by Katharine Ann Porter (Ship of Fools) whose young fiancé, an Army Lieutenant, died of it. The title? Pale Horse, Pale Rider.

An interesting piece. I've read Crosby's book on the flu. Excellent, given he lacked today's knowledge.

...you won't see it, but all the news media has differing pictures and artist representations like you CAN see it coming after you. Isn't it ridiculous to post such images on news media, and most are artistic representations of what it looks like in microscopic detail and not actual pictures of it.

to build a new, bigger wall around China to keep people from getting in OR out because every super virus we've had that is some type of mutation and resistant to everything it seems has been coming out of a country that has their people living on top of one another in deplorable conditions. I'm surprised the same situation hasn't happened in India.

on anything beneficial.
Like spending money on butter instead of guns. Or housing instead of surveillance camreras, if you will.
History says no; the Bible says yes.

But you won't like it.

Relevance?
Feb 9, 2020 12:37PM PST

(Ad hominem never is. That's why it's called a logical fallacy.)
What was your response when I asked you to rrad want WE say about ourselves?

Relevance to your post; *Or housing instead of surveillance camreras", was the alternative I gave you. The meaning of which is that surveillance (at which the Chinese excel) is useful to a repressive state. Money spent on it could go to housing, which is still behind demand.
Or, read the Reuters investigation of the US military housing furnished by private contractors to those who are "ready to lay down their lives for our country". 'Inadequate' doesn't begin to describe it; it's downright hazardous.
Hope your son has better.
Say, isn't DoD money going to build a wall against the 'clear and present danger' of Brown hordes of murderers?

These are examples of what economists VA the problem of allocation of scarce resources- like budget dollars.

I somehow turned on a super spellchecker
Feb 9, 2020 6:44PM PST

recently. Corrections:
First ¶. S/B "asked you to read what WE"
Last ¶. S/b "what economists call the problem"

I recall Oprah talking about us many years ago on her old TV show. Something about spanking our children. (Which we do. We heard about it from our householders. It was equated with child abuse, which it is not. Oxygen is cable, which I do not have.)

You have internet. If you change your mind about learning about us- not likely, with either red or blue true believers- here it is again. jw.org. Then you can speak from a position of knowledge. Change of pace, no?

Have fun this November. Looks like your guy is a shoo-in, now. I'll continue to be happy that neither one will be my guy.

I think we need to have the world agree to build a new, bigger wall around China.

Why doesn't America finish that wall on the southern border before they start taking up collections from the rest of the world...

DJT?....

America, First, Last and Always, going to the rest of the world with hat in hand looking for agreement?

Sounds like someone is willing to change HER position.
