Remember the windows Metafile issue a few months back ? Wine users noticed that their API suffered the same issues as they made an metafile API that did exactly what the windows metafile API did right down to the security hole. As a result linux systems could be affected if they ran wine. (they fixed it in days)
If you intergrated the windows API's into any OS, the security threats that use the API ae now on your system
Chill out, If apple started on it now, It might suface in 3-4 years.
Its a monumental task and one that Apple are unlikely to commit to. Its simply a utopian dream that wine once aspired to and is still working to make some applications work.
Thee are thousands of API's to port.
Okay, so rumour are going around that OSX is going to incorporate Windows API during the next release "Leopard". (http://digg.com/apple/Running_Windows_Apps_natively_on_OSX_without_Windows_)
now i've been wondering, won't this make OSX prone to the good old wholesome windows virus and other threats? Does anyone have any more information on this whole API deal? or could this be the nail in board to force everyone to go get Apple Care? Has bill planted a seed inside Jobs? What's going on?!?
