Conversion to digital

The "very old handycam"(OHC) would be the one that can play the old v8 tape.
You would connect the output, sound and video, from it to the New Handycam(NHC).
The NHC has composite video & audio inputs, hopefully the OHC has composite video & audio output.
Now connect the NHC, via Firewire, to your Macbook. Power up the NHC in "Play". iMovie should launch and be waiting to import your data.
start the OHC, with the old tape inside. It will output to the NHC which will convert it, on the fly, to digital and out the Firewire connection to your Mac.
You would be using your NHC as an analog to digital convertor.
How dat?

i've actually decided to go with some kind of video capture device to do this--just trying to figure out what the best one is at the most reasonable price.
