if i have 4 gigs of ram will ReadyBoost do anything?

Probably not. There might be a very few limited instances where you get a very meager benefit, but it would hardly be worth the effort of even plugging in a USB flash drive, and clicking the ReadyBoost option.

readyboost was intended to help vista systems with limited ram (<2gb). don't even bother since you have 4gb of "real" ram.
