Question

If I get a new phone what should I get (under $200)

Sep 20, 2015 10:37AM PDT

Currently, I have an iPhone 4s through TracFone and I've been thinking about getting something a little newer but there's so many phones to choose from. I'm thinking I want to change from Apple to Andriod. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 and I like that a lot.

Since I have TracFone, I can't upgrade through the company and have to buy my phone outright. This means my next phone has to be budget friendly. I've basically decided to write iPhones off my want list because I want something big like the iPhone 6 but its way out of my price range.

Here is a list of must-haves in a phone:
. Under $200
. 4G LTE
. 5" or bigger
. Good touch screen
. Good camera. Takes decent pictures that are at least as good as my iPhone 4s or better.
. Must be accessible to Micro SD cards
. Newer version of Andriod (no windows!)

What phones would you suggest?

Slightly more expensive than your budget, but really one of your only options to get a newer updated phone with a screen larger than 5". Amazon sells it unlocked, which helps too if you ever need to sell or change carriers. There's also a 4.7" version for less than $200, FWIW.

Lenovo K3 Note

Lenovo K3 Note is admired for its powerful octa core CPU and its 2 GB RAM. It’s the perfect selfie smartphone too for it has a 5 MP front camera and a whopping 13 MP rear camera. Not to mention it can record a video at 1080p@30fps.

Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime

Samsung is the top contender of Apple. Oh, we heard enough of that already! Samsung never fails to surprise us with every set of mobiles they release each year. One of the most talked about Samsung handset of today is the Galaxy Grand Prime which offers a bit of every top-notch phone Samsung has! It is powered by a quad-core CPU at 1.2 GHz.

Xiaomi Redmi 2

One of our greatest contenders on the list is the Xiaomi Redmi 2 only released in January of this year. If design plays a major feature in your taste of the best smartphone, you will not be disappointed at the Xiaomi Redmi 2.

Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen)

We should never underestimate any low-cost smartphone especially when it comes from the Moto family like the Motorola Moto G (2nd gen).

Asus Zenfone 2

The most popular best smartphone under 200 dollars is finally out in the market! The attractive yet aggressively cheap Zenfone 2 from Asus is as beautiful even on the deeper side of it.

well, maybe you can try some phones of China brand such as xiaomi ,huaweii, ZTE,lenvo, etc. i am sure that they are cheap enough for you to buy it . on the other hand, no matter in  appearance desige , in system operation or in taking photos, some of them have excellent performance. Chinese smartphones would be a cost-efficient choice.

well lets get things straight..

there are yes a lot of phone choices out there and I am pretty looking for a great deal..with little hassle..the one thing I will say is that the big boys in the phone market..really have a way of putting a new flashy phone to our ears..we jump on it at first..then once the bills start coming in we start kicking ourselves...however we walk away with a nice new shiny phone..with more features and app capabilities than we could ever use in a lifetime...so yeah kind of a double edge sword...but then we decide to go the pre-paid route..which fits the frugal customer quite well..or those on a fixed income per-say ..many plans out there....many phones for one to a few plans and hardly none for some..if we want a smart phone for these plans..takes a bit of research to know what is best for the budget and the like for new technology...so really all I can say without much regret of saying the wrong thing...is do you want your new phone today with a hefty monthly bill each month.....or would you rather buy one out right and therefore maybe have to wait a bit before you can get it in your hands..but once you do..you have a personally picked nice new toy..and you control the payment..w/o the surprises ...

I use TracFone as a prepaid option

Funny you should mention this. I actually use TracFone as my character. Very inexpensive. My iPhone 4s is actually fully functional on TracFone through their fairly recent Bring Your Own Phone Program. Unfortunately, I really like fancy gadgets and would eventually like to upgrade.

I've been looking at phones like the Samsung Galaxy S5, Samsung Galaxy Note 4, and LG G3.

Good camera, Micro SD cards, 5" or bigger and all the other features that you mentioned must be matching Lenovo k3 note! yup, it is less expensive with good features in it... !

I would recommend you this phone, but while you are willing to opt this mobile, check out the ratings for this phone on amazon store Happy
