IEP competing services

After weeks of the new free AOL with email and software, how are other ISP services competing with the market, Such as MSN? EarthLink?

I bet there loosing some customers, perhaps MSN providing there own software to the who public, not just members?

They must be receiving revenue from somewhere. WIth adverts within your browser?

If so, I will stick with my ISP, NTL in the UK.
