I did try to update the drivers via windows update and installed the driver I used in xp but windows 7 does not reccognise them. I also tried several programmes who update drivers to no avail. It is actually the controller of the printer that is not recognised not the printer. I checked and the controller appears to be the connecting wire from the comps to the printer. Thank for your suggestions

So let's say it's the IEEE-1284 controller.

Without make or model, I can't comment further. Where did you get this IEEE-1284 controller?

The printer is an epson stylus colour 660 and the connectin is a usb parallel printer cable bi-directional. I checked on the internet regarding the IEEE-1284 and it confirmed it as the connection between the comp and the printer. Any comments would be much appreciated.

I purchased this comp in nov 09 and when I connected the scanner camera and printer windows accepted them and I have used the printer on numerous occasions until 2nd jan when the comp crashed while downloading cd's (musicals) since then I have installed windows several times but cant get it to accept the printer controller.

I could not find an ACM USB to Parallel Printer cable. I wanted to see if there were drivers for this.

-> Ok, this is a DESKTOP so it's likely to have PCI slots?

Here's a printer card for Windows 7 -> (click on the word Requirements.)

Sorry that I can't find your ACM device on
