ie7 but first disable spyware...How?

Oct 24, 2006 5:23AM PDT

MS declare that some programs must be disabled, of those that I have only AVG(Free) allows me to do this.

Free versions of Ad-Aware, Spybot S&D, SpywareBlaster, Windows Defender seem fixed. No help available for free software (fair enough) but it leaves me (and how many others?) with a problem.

Is there a solution that will help? Perhaps I may risk it after creating a restyore point?

7.1 would normally be my choice...

...but for all the published beta versions I thought v7.0 might be worth it!

In any event, I fancy my problem will still exist so I'm hoping that one of you kind experts will be able to help me.

Marks out of ten?
Oct 25, 2006 5:50AM PDT

Thanks for that link Bob, I read the lot earlier and have to agree that the final (well, maybe final) conclusion must be to consider Firefox as the remedy for all Microsoft problems. A supreme paradox.

I feel that had Gilbert & Sullivan been alive today, they would have made millions on the subject.

Regards

g (now with Firefox along with Jane!)

Installing IE7
Oct 24, 2006 6:55AM PDT

I am also having trouble installing IE7, though my computer seems to install anything else just fine. I have NAV, which is have disabled during installation, but the installation just hangs. The only solution I can think of is to install in safe mode, but then I am afraid something will conflict when I start up again. Is anyone else with NAV having trouble installing? I can't find any support on the Symantec site. I don't want to uninstall NAV.

I gave up and installed Firefox. It installed in less than 5 minutes with no hitches.
