IE7 and Music Match Jukebox Problem

Dec 11, 2006 8:36PM PST

I have been using Music Match Jukebox 7.5 for a few years and never had a problem with it. Suddenly, it would not load, uninstall, or even reinstall. After some struggling with this problem I noticed that Automatic Updates had recently installed IE7 on my computer.

I uninstalled IE7 and reverted to tried and true IE6 and MMJB started up again perfectly.

Beware of this update. I wonder how many similar issues may be lurking out there?

Has anyone had a similar experience with IE7?

Jim

Did you tick the box for the IE7 update thru Custom Update?
Dec 12, 2006 3:26AM PST

If not, it will try to reinstall. Go to manual windows update and select Custom. When the IE7 shows, click on the + sign and at the bottom, there is a box that will stop it from installing.

Thanks for the suggestion.

I reverted to IE6 and I'll stay that way for a while.

Thanks also for the link to mmjb_10.

IE7 and MusicMatch Jukebox
Dec 28, 2006 8:07AM PST

I've been happily using Musicmatch Jukebox v7.2 since I paid for it in 2002.
Since I have installed IE7, Musicmatch no longer works. I've tried every way to re-install the programme to no effect. So I unintalled IE7 and bingo! Everything works. So as I wasn't that impressed with IE7 anyway I'll stick with things as they are until Microsoft sort it. Progress? Bah! Humbug!

I tried uninstalling
Dec 30, 2006 10:05AM PST

I did uninstall IE7 after I found it may have been the culprit, I have tried uninstalling both MMJB an IE7 (removed IE totally) and now MMJB will act like its starting (splash screen) and then nothing. this is version 7.5 that I had bought an RCA LYRA just to have MMJB plus code. I feel ripped off and dont know whos kneck to ring. All I see in the software world and now flooding into the WWW is GREED. God destroys countries for less. so lets have it MMJB aka YAHOO or Mr. Bill at Microcash I and others deserve a FREE working version of our players that no longer work !!!.

IE7 and MusicMatch Jukebox

I have the Plus version of MusicMatch 7.2 also which I'm very happy with. I did have 7.5 until I installed IE7 and Win Media Player 11 which trashed MusicMatch and made it unable to reinstall. I uninstalled IE7 and Win Media Player 11 and was able to reinstall MusicMatch. I just wish I had a copy of the 7.5 on an install disk but the 7.2 version was all I had. Needless to say, I won't be installing IE7 or Win Media Player 11 again

Uninstalling IE7
Jan 5, 2007 1:42AM PST

Go to ADD/REMOVE in the Control Panel, internet explorer-remove. If you are planning to get Vista, your MMJB won't work, NERO won't work, (The enhanced version will), RealPlayer/Jukebox & more.

from csrking LINK for MusicMatchJukebox 10 which works with IE7.

IE7....Don't...SSSSS
Jan 6, 2007 7:37AM PST

Internet Explorer Seven is a very good Web Browser..there is nothing wrong in its running on a PC..
First.....Do NOT CLICK those LINKS at the very TOP of the Internet OPTIONS Page..Current-Default-Blank...Buttons..leave them as is..
..
I had used the BETA-version of IE7 and it seldom lasted 3-days before mal-functioning..
..
The Microsoft UPDATE Service version is really a nice addition..
..
I would suggest....
A clean re-install of your OS and then do the complete UPDATE Service from Microsoft..
..
Remove all PCI-expansion CARDS during the OS re-install..
..
Place all PCI Cards back....last....except the MODEM..
..
I have found the Celeron D not a real Hard-working CPU..
In[Properties]I have dropped my Hardware Acceleration-1/notch..from the Trouble-Shooting LINK..
..
I pulled a Celeron D[331]2.66GHz..
and replaced it w/a P4[531]3.0GHz..
utilizeing my D915GAGL Motherboard..
CPU instructions are very important..
..
The Celeron D can NOT run a High Powered CREATIVE Sound Card..
..
and has issues in Video Editing..
..
Pentium is the best answer to questions surrounding ERROR MESSAGES..
..
Celeron D--->>error messages..
Pentium 4-->>no error messages..

I want my MMJB 7.5 back!!!!!
Sep 3, 2007 6:05PM PDT

Finally!! I found out what the problem was!! IE7 and MMJB don't play well together!!! This is crap!!! I love MMJB 7.5. It's the only program guaranteed to burn and then play on any cd player i have ever owned. No other program burns muscic like this one. I went through uninstalling and reinstalling so many times. No wonder people download software illegally!!! Who can afford to pay hundreds of dollars a month to have crappy software. Well no more MMJB for me I guess cuz I love IE7!!! Guess I'll look for old burn software I have somewhere like Adaptec Easy CD Creator 5!! I love Itunes for a player but not full proof in burning!!!

Auto updates cause MMJB to fail
Feb 17, 2008 4:19AM PST

No installation for 7.2 or 10 works and the part that does will not uninstall. Even the restoring to previous settings does not solve the problem.... Who knows what will?

IE7 and Music Match Jukebox 7.5 Problem
Oct 9, 2009 10:25PM PDT

I also had this problem - BUT now there is a solution.
Revert to IE6 and then download Mozilla Firefox - it has all the attributes of IE7 but does not interfere with MMJB 7.5 at all.
Now I am as happy as Larry
