A bitter truth is that not all damage can be repaired. However you never revealed the name of the pest or if you have removed all spyware.
Due to a Trojan, I had to reinstall W2K Pro. I successfully did this except
for IE6 SP1, which won't install. Instead, I get a message that reads 'you
need 439 Gb space on this hard drive for Windows installation to complete;
free up 1400Kb.'
(It's a 30 Gb drive with 33% free; so the message is bogus.)
I've tried CHKDSK C: /F and CHKDSK C: /R /F, but neither helps.
Some of the ActiveX controls in other programs, such as Norton Systemworks,
don't work, presumably because the IE settings are not correct?
I am a neophyte at this.
What should I do? Any suggestions would be most appreciated.
