ie6 connection problem

by billyk53 / March 29, 2008 1:06 AM PDT

I'm running IE6 on Windows 2000 Professional with all SP's installed. Suddenly, no matter what site I try to navigate to I get 'The page cannot be displayed' message. I have tried the Repair IE option from Add/Remove Programs to no avail.

I have ADSL via a router and my settings are Connections - Never Dial a connection / Settings - Automatically detect settings. I have verified that username and password are correct.

I have run Lavasoft and Spybot. I am using Comodo firewall and Avast Antivirus.

I use Firefox on the same computer and this connects fine. Any help appreciated.

Tried IEFix?

Just another option.. Try the tool at the link below to fix Internet Explorer:

IEFix Utility

Or, in a pinch, you can download the full Windows SP2 installer file and run it.. It replaces any missing or corrupted files with new ones.

Hope this helps.

The problem was as Edward suggested - I had IE blocked by the firewall.
