IE6 and XP interfaces in English vs. French

by rebecca777777 / November 20, 2004 9:25 AM PST

When I upgraded IE6 with Service Pack 2, Microsoft automatically installed an interface in French, as I bought my laptop in France.

I would like to go back to English (previously, I had Yahoo's customization of IE in English). Along the way, if I could get all XP interfaces in English, it would be great. I have tried several things, including attempting to cancel SP2, but nothing has worked out.

I cannot even change browser, as Yahoo toolbar does not work with other browsers.

Could any of you sort this out? I would appreciate.

I really doubt if this will help you but in the Control Panel in XP there is a "Regional and Language Options" section. Maybe something in there will help you??

I live in Japan and have the same problem. On old Windows 95, I was able to uninstall the Japanese IE and install the English. XP doesn't allow this. What I did was install the Avant browser, which is basically a shell for IE. It lets you choose any language. Since then, however, I have switched to Firefox, and so now have a nice browser with an English interface which is independent of IE.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
