IE6 all SP's installed Minimize problem

Feb 19, 2006 8:36AM PST

Hi,

Using window's XP PRO SP2, IE6 SP all installed. For a single application which happens to be an addon for AOL IM (AIM), called Messenger Mate, I've suddenly had a problem where minimize does not happen, it tries to minimize but a small reminant stays on the desk top, it never minimizes to the system tray. Various people have suggested problems with my system or a system without enough resources.

I have a Dell 8400, with a P4 3.2Ghz processor, with 1GB fast memory, so I doubt it's system resources.

I tried an IE6 repair, I upgraded my graphics card software & drivers.

Has anyone seen such a problem or have any Idea's?

Thanks for any help or idea's
Steve
PS I went to the developer of the software (Messenger Mate), they have never heard of such a problem

steve11375, Do your other open applications minimize to the Taskbar when you minimize them? There's a possible fix at the link below under the letter "T"---"Taskbar". You would double click on "Minimized Programs Missing" to download a vbs file. Save it to your hard drive (you may want to right click and use Save Target As). Double
click the vbs file. You will be prompted when the script is done.

NOTE: If your anti-virus software warns you of a "malicious" script, this is normal if you have "Script Safe" or similar technology enabled. These scripts are not malicious, but they do make changes to the System Registry.

If that doesn't do the trick

If Tufenuf's advice doesn't work, what happens if you uninstall the AOL IM addon?

Rather than uninstall it, you could try a System Restore to a date before you installed the addon, (because then, you could "undo" the restore if it makes no difference).

That way, you could narrow it down to the addon, and if it is that, you can inform the providers that they have a new bug.

The final outcome
Feb 20, 2006 8:41AM PST

Mark,

As you suggested I went back to the forum for the ADDON to AIM and I had an option set wrong which was causing the problem, unfortunately I did NOT ask the right question when I was there the first time, as soon as I explained it better one of the Moderators told me what I was hosing up.

Thanks again everyone,

Steve

VBS ran but didn't fix the problem
Feb 20, 2006 6:07AM PST

Tufenuf,

Thanks but that didn't fix it, it's just the one application and it's an application add-on, course they won't own up to a problem (well they would if I could prove it further), I'll try to go back to their forum & see if they can help more.

Thanks again for the info,

Steve
