Question

IE10 won't open new window

Nov 25, 2013 4:01AM PST

When I attempt to open a new window from the File menu, the New Window automatically duplicates the first window. As seldom as I use IE it may have always been this way and I never noticed it. Does anyone out there have an idea how I can rectify this problem?

I am using this IE10 Sad with Windows 8 Sad 64-bit on a 64-bit machine

Thank you

Charlie

Thank you for responding.

Sorry about that. I am using IE10 in Desktop mode. I'm trying to stay away from everything "Metro." The Metro Start and App tiles don't even work (probably because I'm using Classic Shell) which is fine by me. Happy

Just tried it.

Opened IE10 and then pressed Control+N to get a new window and it tiled a new instance and the new window looked like what was showing in the prior window.

HOWEVER I can't test this because I refuse to answer yes to making it my default browser. This software is too pushy for me but Control+N result was it showing the prior content of "Do you want to make IE10 your default browser."

Let's see what others find.

Ctrl+N opens a new window with a duplicate of the previous window's page here too. Actually I'm trying to get IE10 to open a New Window w/o rendering the page in the previous window but it's looking like I may just be with it.

As with yourself, I rarely use IE. My preferred browser is K-Meleon. But more and more, It's not working with some of the newer site features being developed, the biggest renegade I run into being Disqus. I guess I'll have to give FF another try. FF used to give me big problems when I was using XP, but maybe Windows 8 it will suite me better.

Just last month with FireFox 25
Nov 30, 2013 1:41AM PST

The office shuffled in a new laptop and it was time to try it again. FireFox 25 addressed something I wanted to see and was in SeaMonkey. SeaMonkey is rather sluggish at getting Web Of Trust and AdBlock+ support so it was good to see FireFox again.
