IE users beware, says virus researcher

Dec 17, 2003 1:08AM PST

Two of the websites mentioned in the article on a man who followed the trail of a scam pose as empty front pages but exploit two vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer, according to Scott Molenkamp, a senior virus research engineer with Computer Associates in Melbourne.

Molenkamp said he was referring to the sites laeat.com and buyerwelcome.org.

"While the files on the former seem to be out of action, the buyerwelcome page will install an internet banking (Westpac, St.George, National) password stealer on an unpatched system," he said.
