IE provided by Comcast. How do I get rid of the title on IE

by bogy / August 2, 2004 2:25 PM PDT

Awhile back, I had Comcast as my ISP. I've long sinced had Comcast but my IE still says "Microsoft Internet Explorer provided by Comcast High-speed internet"

Is there a way to fix that?

there used to be a package called the Internet Explorer Administration Kit from Microsoft that allowed you to change this. i'm not sure if the same tool will work today. it's a registry entry only, so has no effect other than the name on the title bar and in the icon. how important is it to change these back to their defaults?

To change the Title of the Internet Explorer you need to make a registry change.
(...Insert the usual cautions and warnings here, regarding making any changes to the registry...)

For WinXP here is the key, and I would think other versions of Windows would have a similar key.

Go to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main

There you will find a key called "Window Title"
You will see the current value.
Just double-click the key and change it to whatever text you want, and then close the registry.

The next time you open a new IE window your new title should appear.
