IE Plug Ins Error

Hello
I run Windows XP and IE
I get a message saying an error has occured while scanning IE Plug Ins.
An unexpected problemwas encountered
ERROR #: 0X80004003
Please advise

can you post the full and exact text of the error message (without any typos). Then we can search for it on google.

I wonder if "Plug Ins" is the right way to write it. But "error has occurred while scanning IE plugins" isn't found either by google.

On the face of it, this could be an error given by any antivirus or antispyware program, the installation of any other plugin, IE starting up or Windows XP booting and doing some routine checks. So the question in the previous post is certainly relevant.

What happens when you click OK on the error message?

Have you tried clearing your Temporary Internet Files folder, all Temp folders, then running spyware removal tools such as the ones below?:

..has been known to cause that particular error.

As was asked before by others in this thread, when does this error come up and which program is being used when you see the pop up?

Have you tried the items I suggested and does that stop the error?
