IE^ insists on being default no matter what I do

Jun 2, 2005 9:49PM PDT

Firefox is my default browser but all links now open in IE. I dont like IE. Had to install IE6 in order to use HP4215 all in one machine which called for a higher version of IE than 5.0. Have told IE to ask if it wants to be default so i can say no...but it wont do that it automatically takes over the default status. What is the solution? OS is 98SE.
This is very annoying! Everytime I turn on my computer now Firefox loses its default status. Am using Firefox 1.0.4 and have tried deleting it and reinstalling to no avail.

Please note that under Tools/Options in IE I have checked the box for IE to ask if it is default. But it will not do so!

Thanks for any help you can give!

program which are doing this. Firefox is the default. Links in it are opened by Firefox. Going to check register to see if i can find waht the problem really is as far as thunderbird is concerned. If anyone has a hint would be happy to hear it.

So far the culprit links seem to all end with html. Will check further and repost if needed.
