IE homepage change

Mar 10, 2004 1:59PM PST

I've got this problem where my IE option --> General--> Homepage is disabled. The homepage becomes some stupid porn ad, and I was unable to change the homepage in the internet option simply because the homepage box is disable where I am unable to type anything. And my question is how to how to make the homepage avaliable for me to change homepage address.

Thanks

Re:IE homepage change (locked.) Be sure that you didn't lock it with Spybot?

Down inside a page is a setting in Spybot to lock the home page. You get to unlock that as well as be sure no pests are on your machine. M.S. already noted the Anti-Parasite Suite, but let me back it up with this passage.

Parasite removal programs.

http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=1313&start=0 notes the five scanning tools and removal tools that are fairly safe. If one does encounter an issue, its always been damage done by the MALWARE. The most common issue being Layered Service Provider replacement which you can use LSPFIX (Hint: use http://www.google.com to find).

The thread has follow on discussions about new links if you don't want to use Google to find an item.

Bob

PS. All the tools are free.

Thanks for the help. I used Lavasoft ad-ware 6 to a search and was told it was some kind of adware. Problem solved and I could reset my homepage again. Thank you thank you. Codestuff Starter also helped with some stupid ad ware that take control of your homepage everytime when I start Window everytime.

We have seen this as a result of spyware taking over your browser. There are two shareware programs available that will help to get rid of this: "Ad-Aware" and "Spybot". Usually running one will get rid of most spyware, but the other one will still catch some leftovers. Check CNET downloads for these; you can also do a Google search to find them for downloading, as well.
