IE dies

Dec 3, 2004 1:02PM PST

Running Win 98 se on a 1 gig cpu with 512 meg memory. IE 6.0.2800 Machine works fine , I'm surfing, I leave it alone for a few minutes all of a sudden the screen goes black and the computer restarts, runs scan . It was happening for a while then it stopped for a few weeks, now its started up again. Thought maybe overheating, I was mistaken it runs at 82 degrees F. Been through power management and display on control panel , no help... Any ideas?

I was wrong, it went off by itself last night and rebooted and it did it this morning. I was not using the computer it was idling with no programs operating.Should I take this to the WIN 98 forum?

Remove the case cover, dust it out and leave the cover off.

Better or same?

Typical of a heat issue. Remember that the CPU is not the only component that wants to be cool.
