IE crashing

Oct 20, 2006 6:51PM PDT

Every time I attempt to access my CNET Profile I get the following Error and Event ID:

''Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.'' Clicking on ''more information'' reveals:

ModVer: 6.0.2900.2963 Offset: 001fb1c5

Each time the Event Viewer indicates:

Event Type: Error
Event Source: Application Error
Event Category: None
Event ID: 1000
Date: 10/21/2006
Time: 4:14:41 AM

I'm using Window XP Home SP2 and IE6. Appearantly no viruses or other vermin. I've tried reseting the DMA and rebooted as well as System Restore to no avail. From Googling the Event ID it sounds like disabling DEP may help but I don't know how to disable it and not really sure that I should. This problem [seems] to have just begun this evening but then I haven't accessed my Profile in about a week. The last thing I did prior to attempting to access my Profile was visit
http://www.ieaddons.com/AddOn.aspx?cid=1&scid=61&aid=652ac0aa-daee-4221-84e1-21f35f84a031
but I don't think this page had any thing to do with causing the problem as other member's have appearantly accessed it safely e.g.
http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6130-0.html?forumID=50&threadID=213347&messageID=2282556

I'd appreciate any help to understand what's going on and how to fix it.

Thanks

Charlie

IE 7 and Cnet
Oct 21, 2006 7:49PM PDT

I have the same problem since the IE 7 Beta version released. Since then I did not use it but only this time I installed the final version again but the problem remains as usual. Always it crashes whenever I use the Cnet. Other problem is unable to use menu bar with the Limited Account (Windows XP SP II with all the latest updates).

I am looking for help here.

Thanks in advanced.

Wildbird

Actually I'm still using IE 6. And from things I've been hearing about IE7, I think I'm going to stick with version 6, at least for a good while.

The crashing problem regarding My profile page seems to be all cleared up. I'm thinking it may have had to do with the new site format at CNET.

Still, the jerky scrolling is a problem. It only accurs at CNET. Hope that gets cleard up soon because it's beginning to make surfing the forums a pain, especially on my eyes.Angry
