IE 8 and Yahoo Bookmarks

May 8, 2009 10:55PM PDT

Altho I've had a pc for a while, I am very pc iliterate.
I have an XP emachine and at the top it says "Windows
Internet Explorer provided by Yahoo"

Yahoo recently suggested I update to IE 8 which I did.
But with IE 8 my Yahoo Bookmarks can't be added.

I'm not sure how this next part happened (pc iliterate=me)
but I removed the IE 8 by doing system restore, wanting to go back to what I had,
which I think was IE 7.

When I did this, I couldn't get online. So I undid my system restore so I could use
IE 8 to get online to try to change back to IE 7.

When I tried to download IE7 a message came up saying I can't
do that because I have ?? not sure exactly what it said,
but something to the effect that there was one already there.

I deleted IE8 again and had all the same results.

Does anyone know a way I can do this?
Also, am I allowed to have a second browser on
my Start menu so I can get online after deleting
IE 8?

Maybe this is very simple but I just don't know how
or maybe it's impossible and I'm stuck not being
able to use Yahoo Bookmarks which I really like.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

Can you have more than one browser installed? Sure.

I have 4 installed at the moment, IE, (Internet Explorer), Firefox, SeaMonkey, and Netscape 4.7. They all work perfectly well together and do not conflict, even if more than one is opened at the same time.

About your IE8. Instead of using System Restore, have you tried removing IE8 through the Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs utility? That should uninstall IE8 and 'revert back' to IE7.

It isn't listed as Internet Explorer 8, but instead is listed as "Windows Internet Explorer 8".

I hope that helps.

thank you so much. I'm so happy to find that
I can have more than one browser at a time.
I also am grateful for the advice on going to
programs and deleting IE 8. That never even
occured to me. Hope your day is wonderful!

IE 8 and Yahoo Bookmarks

jbnicely,

Hi my name?s Feran and I am working with the Internet Explorer Outreach Team to help provide assistance to folks about their Internet Explorer.

Just for future use, it?s always best to download from the official Microsoft site as oppose to 3rd party sites. If you decide to do a reinstall of IE8 I suggest getting here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx?ocid=ie8_sm_a.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Microsoft Windows XP
Home Edition
Version 2002

I am installed IE8 and could not get the yahoo bookmarks to work. Are you and Yahoo working on this. If not I will move back to FireFox 14.0.1 since there are no conflicts with FF.

thanks.

It's been 3 years.

So this is very old and if they didn't sort it out by now...

However my suggestion is to try a new post with a few more details. For example I never used "Yahoo bookmarks" but have used bookmarks in browsers for too many years to share (pre-Netscape days!)
