IE 8

hi all. i recently installed windows 7 and got the IE 8 with it, great. but it freezes, wont allow me to open my email from messenger which i have gotten so used to doing, and often times i have to close and then re-open it again. could anybody out there shed some light on this not so great part of IE and windows 7? i am running toshiba with 3gigs of memory 2.0 processor 250 gig HD.. thanks for your help in advance..
