ie 7 tabs gone and i want them back

by kellybrak / January 27, 2008 11:40 AM PST

I'm running XP and IE 7. I downloaded something bad (maybe spyshredder??) and it made my IE7 tabs stop working. I deleted the program and everything i could find related to it, but i can't get the tabs back. I've read thru lots of searches and forums and can't find anything to help me. I've tried many things. I did tools>options>setting tabs are enabled, but they don't work. Also did a RIES, and restarted the computer but they still don't work. I really like the tabs and want them back. Anyone have some help for me? Please?

Where are my tabs?

IE?s tab implementation depends on xmllite.dll and thus no tabs

Do you have xmllite.dll?

Uninstall IE, Reinstall IE

Use Firefox

Thanks for the tip. I did have the file xmllite.dll on the computer. I went ahead and uninstalled IE and installed it again. The program is working and the tabs are still not working, but the computer search says that file is in the folder. Any more suggestions?

Also, why do you like firefox better?

i give up
by kellybrak / January 30, 2008 12:50 AM PST

Hi again,
I went to the link and tried to run the gpedit.msc like she said, but that isn't on my computer. So i downloaded the fixed .dll file and rebooted twice and STILL no tabs. So i give up and downloaded firefox and now i have tabs. I am continually amazed by how much time i can waste trying to do a simple thing on the computer. Thanks for your time and suggestions. I hope i'll like firefox better too.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
