IE 7 opening numerous Windows when opening Brower.

by Jwd1savh / January 16, 2007 9:26 AM PST

Some System Background info. Running Windows XP w/Service Pack 2 with all updates, MSN Webroot Spy Sweeper, Norton System Works 2006 w/ Nortons Anti-Virus, Ad-Aware SE, Spybot S&D, PC Pitstop Optimize, PC Pitstop Exterminate, and eTrust PestPatrol. All services are up-to-date.
Now to the issue, starting a week ago everytime I open IE7 it goes to my homepage, but then opens other windows at the same time, between 5 to 6 windows, all sites ads for Banks, Credit Cards, Casino's, etc. I have checked my Internet Options and made sure all my Security and Pivacy settings are set to Default. I had cleared all caches, history, cookies & files, but I still have the issue.
Any ideas on what is going on and how to correct this problem?
Thanks, John

I have just encountered this as well!

What happened to me was I began getting errors when starting up XP... Like "Failed to load GetSystemResources - missing such and such dll"

Something caused my SpyBot S&D to fail as well as my Spyware Terminator... same thing - missing DLLs...

PCcilling was not detecting any malware until I decided to upgrade to ie7.. I forget why exactly but during my investigation I felt i needed to upgrade. Then as the ie7 download began PCcillin detected a virus in the download from microsoft.com!!! Now anytime I try to open IE I get numerous (like 30+) windows opening but all to a blank page.... I still havent figured it out. Looks like time for a wipe out.

I found my problem in a problem that installed itself.....

I found this problem in my "add and remove programs". If I remember it was called "Secure Service Pack" or something close to that. I removed it and the problem went away also.
Good Luck...

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
