IE 7 locks up after stopping streaming video

I enjoy watching MSNBC's and other news site's streaming videos. When I stop the videos before completion, IE7 tends to freeze up, requiring me to "end task". 3.2 Mhz, 1 gig in RAM, XP Pro machine. I use Windows Media Player 11.
Ideas?
