IE 6 Problem??

Nov 23, 2003 1:03AM PST

I recently re-installed Win XP and all works fine except a problem within IE. So far I have found two sites that I keep getting kicked out of. I can go to 'dslreports.com' and 'online.chase.com', log in, and select various links within those sites, but at some point when I select a link I am completely thrown out of that site and back to my desktop. I have closed my ZoneAlarm firewall and all pop-up blockers, but it still happens at the same link within those sites. So far, all other sites I visit work fine. I might add that prior to re-installing XP, I had many problems but this was not one of them. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences?? Thanks for any help.

Configuration Settings
Nov 23, 2003 3:03AM PST

Sorry about the configuration settings. I am running two HP Pavilions, both Win XP, through a Linksys 4-port router which is connected to a cable modem. With this connection, my current settings are: Address Type - Assigned by DHCP; IP Address - 192.168.1.100; Subnet Mask - 255.255.255.0; Default Gateway - 192.168.1.1. As I said, I did not have this problem before reinstalling Windows, and the other XP machine does not have this problem. I surf many sites daily, and these two are the only ones that disconnect me.

have you tried to re-set your 'cookies' option in IE 6.0?

go to the privacy tab and reset to 'default' and try to go to the sites in question.

if you are successful, go back to the 'privacy' tab and re-set to at least 'medium-high'.

Thanks all, I was checking everything, doing just what dawillie recommended, and found the problem to be a java setting. Unchecked it and all is well. I appreciate all responses and recommendations.
