Just an update.
It appeared that going into the registry was my only option for getting the problem fixed, so that is what I did.
Going into the registry is not near as bad as I have been led to believe it is.
Trouble fixed and the computer still works.
My granddaughter was given an older Gateway computer that has Windows ME
The problem is that IE 6 is password protected and the lady has forgotten the password.
When I try to open IE it pops up with "Content Advisor" and asks for a password.
Is there any way other than getting into the registry to delete the password? I am not familiar with it at all and have heard you can do very bad things in there if you don't know what you are doing.
I have downloaded and burned a CD for Firefox but can't find one that will work on ME.
