Answer
Here I only get browser hangs or freezes on bad websites.

Let's get the old javascipt bombs on the table since it's still possible to hang a web browser with javascript.

I don't run into that often so when I see a browser hang I always try the site in another account as a test. If that hangs I try a browser reset then move on to scanning for malware.

I appreciate the responses to my question, however I am still getting the( IE has stopped working) recover webpage? It just happened again as I was posting this reply,I guess this is beyond me to fix. Norton did a complete system scan and found no malware or any other problems. I will be switching to CHROME today,so once again THANK YOU ALL. PS it just did it again.

Freeze up windows 10 ie 11
Jun 1, 2016 2:12PM PDT

What I did was run a complete pc scan with NORTON took 2 hours, found no malicious apps or malware,so then I called Norton directly and had them do a scan from their end, appears Microsoft and Norton are in a pissin contest due to EDGE browser, which I can't use due to lack of NORTON protection via windows 10 and EDGE. I then added GOOGLE as default browser, and removed IE 11.So far so good ,it has been a wasted day but what the heck. Thank you R Proffitt for your help. As I said before Norton blames MS and MS blames Norton for compatability issues, and we get to twist in the wind. M KLEIN

That's what I'm reading too. Norton wants to install addons to a browser that doesn't allow such. Since addons are the gateway to hijacks, nice idea to cut off the path of exploit.

Since you have Norton, you should be dealing with Symantec.

I can't fix Symantec issues. No one I know can. It's why I use something else.
