Resolved Question

IE 11

Nov 14, 2013 8:28AM PST

My Windows update is showing IE11 for Windows 7 64 bit as a optional update.
Has anyone here used it and if so what is your opinion?
I tried IE 10 for awhile and had some problems with that so went back to IE9.
Was just wondering if IE 11 is any better and worth downloading.
Thanks for any input.
Wayne

I use both Firefox and IE. The reason being I go into some support sites that require IE.
I will go ahead and load the IE 11 If it's no good I can always revert back to IE9 for now.

I see no difference.

But then again I don't use IE. Be aware that IE9 is being phased out.

The only time I use IE is for testing.

And optional updates from Windows Update are items I rarely take. This is one I'd pass on.

I only mentioned the update thing because I didn't even know IE11 was ready for Windows 7 until I looked at the updates Microsoft was trying to load.
I am not real fond of IE, but need it on some of the Alienware support sites so I have both IE and Firefox with Firefox being used most of the time.
I will say this about IE11 and that is, it's much faster and more fluid than it's predecessors or the newest version of Firefox.
I have only been playing around with it since last night, but so far have not ran into any of the problems I had with IE10.
I guess it's wait and see.

IE11 Needs Fixing
Nov 22, 2013 9:48AM PST

I have a less than 1 year old desktop running Windows 7 Home Premium and have had no trouble at all with IE9, but I downloaded IE11 and it kept freezing up and stopping Windows Explorer. I did a system restore to prior to the download, and all is working fine. I will wait till they have the bugs out of IE11.

I almost never download optional updates

IE11 is optional because MS is looking for pioneers to find the bugs for them. If you want to be a pioneer, charge ahead, but remember it's the pioneers who get the arrows in the back! I use Chrome & Firefox for everything except Windows Update and browsing the MS forums.

I downloaded it on accident

I didn't realize that I had IE set to automatically install new versions. Might want to tell folks to go into IE settings and un-check that. I never use IE so I don't know if there's a problem....Digger

Great so far.
Nov 22, 2013 1:05PM PST

I have been using IE11 for over a week now without any of the problems I had with IE 9 or 10.
The only thing I did find was I couldn't pay my Comcast bill online using IE11, but could with Firefox.
Comcast said it's their problem and are working on it.
I find it to be faster than Firefox and much cleaner, but of course that may change.
If nothing weird shows up I will use it as my primary browser instead of Firefox.

I'm holding off...

I've not told Windows Update to hide it yet but I've no immediate plans to install it. I use Firefox (well, actually Aurora) as my default browser but keep IE for Windows Update, etc. I tried IE10 but ran into the compatibility problem with Kaspersky Pure internet security suite and backed it off to IE9, with which I've had no problems. IE( is still getting security patches, so I'm sticking with it but will reconsider when support ends.

Took a little longer, But
Dec 10, 2013 12:52PM PST

It took longer on IE11 to show the bugs, but their showing up now.
Pretty much the same thing as IE 9 and 10, pages hanging, IE locking up and Adobe Flash Player 11 won't even load in IE11. Many articles on the net about that. What's funny is it worked for almost a month.
Now back to Firefox.
